The Silverspoon Judging Period Has Ended

The judging process of the gastronomy contest Silverspoon ends today and the judges are now sending their evaluations to the independent auditor PricewaterhouseCoopers. The finalists will be announced in two weeks and this year’s winners will be awarded on November 10th at a special Gala Dinner held at Swissotel. Gala ticket sales have begun.

According to the Executive Director of Silverspoon, Marje Hallik-Wilson, the auditors are now responsible for determining the finalists and winners by the time the Gala Dinner takes place on November 10th. “The award for the Best Fine Dining establishment will be presented by Pekka Terävä, a Michelin star chef from Helsinki,” added Hallik-Wilson.

The ticket sales to the Gala held in Swissotel has now begun. The dinner will host 200 guests from which half have already been booked. According to Hallik-Wilson, the guests will receive a four-course-meal inspired by Estonian cuisine accompanied with champagne and carefully chosen wines to go with each dish. Additionally, entertainment will be provided in the form of an Escada fashion show and of course the awards ceremony.

“The initiators of Silverspoon have put their heart into promoting Estonia’s culinary progress. Therefore, we donate 10€ from each ticket sold to Young Chefs Fund that will be given to a young gastronomy talent to finance his studies or experience abroad,” noted Marje Hallik-Wilson.

The tickets are available through Silverspoon organisers via e-mail . Each ticket is 79€, but it is also possible to purchase a whole table of eight seats with a reduced price of 599€.

The awards are presented in six main categories- Fine Dining, Casual Dining, Family Dining, International Cuisine, Estonian Cuisine and Best Cafe. Additionally, three side categories are rewarded- Best Chef, Best Vegetarian and Best Service.
The team behind the Silverspoon competition includes Marje Hallik-Wilson, Joakim Helenius, John Stewart Wilson, Mahesh Ramnani and Anders Hedman. The patron for the competition is the grand old man of Estonian gastronomy, Dimitri Demjanov.

The Silverspoon contest is sponsored by Rimi, audit service provider PricewaterhouseCoopers, Paulig Coffee Estonia AS, Lexus, Viinitie OY, Swissôtel, Escada, Vins de France, Andre Farm OÜ, Bardinet SAS, law firm Sorainen and design studio Nope.

MTÜ Estonian Society of Gastronomy Awards was founded in 2004 to promote and reward culinary achievements in the Estonian dining scene.
